Placements get better at NITs as recession fades off

I am glad to put forward this news before you all that the placements are back in their full form/colors as the recession is officially a passe now.
The placements started in NITs this august 1st and till now 50 percent or over students have been placed in good companies with good packages {a small drop is ,although, seen in pay packages in comparison to previous years} in all the good NITs or say top 10 NITs.

According to the training and placement cell of NIT Warangal, over 25 plus companies will be visiting the campus on daily basis in the month of December and over 70 plus companies have registered for placements for next coming sem{ starting from Dec 24th}
Similar is the case with NIT Trichy, Surthkal,Calicat etc.
Companies like NTPC, Oracle , IOCL etc are doing mass recruitment with package ranging from Rs 6-8 lacs per annum.
Many business profile companies are also visiting the campus with job profiles of Business analyst, Financial analyst etc.

This time a lot of companies are taking student abroad for training like Michelin, Goldman Sachs, UBS etc.

IITs placement will start from January and good news are expected from IIT campuses soon as various international companies are ready to dive in the talent pool to select their prospective employees at high pay scales.

Good times are ahead. So I would advice my +1 and +2 class students to prepare well for the entrance exams. Just few more months left for hardwork and after that life will become a bit simpler,more enjoyable ;}

Changes expected in Admission procedure of NITs

Concerned over mushrooming of private coaching institutions for pre-engineering students and growing dependence of students on them for cracking the entrance examinations, the National Institute of Technology Council -- apex decision making body of NITs in the country -- has formed a three-member committee to suggest ways and modalities for introducing new reforms in the entrance exams for all its 20 NITs. This is in line with a similar measure introduced by the IITs.

Throwing light over the new exercise, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) director Prof A B Samaddar said, "Uptil now the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) enabled aspiring engineers to gain entry into NITs. But it was observed that the coaching institutes created a hype about the entrance test projecting it as a puzzle rather than examination which could not be cleared without their guidance.''

The panel will be headed by MNNIT director. The other two members include NIT-Calicut director Prof GRC Reddy and NIT-Agartala director Prof Probir Kumar Bose. The decision to form the panel was taken during the recent meet of NIT directors in New Delhi. It was chaired by Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal.

Prof Samaddar, also convenor of NIT Vision statement draft committee, said that several suggestions were extended by the NIT directors during the meeting. These included steps to make class 12 examination more relevant to the admission process. ``The idea is to strengthen the education mechanism of Class 12 which will automatically develop students capable of qualifying the entrance examination,'' he said, adding that the council felt that coaching institutes have virtually destroyed the initiative on the part of students to secure higher marks in entrance examinations. Instead, they focus on qualifying the exam only.

The panel will submit its report within three months. Besides reviewing the examination structure, it will also look at the possibility of online exam, in addition to the regular pen and paper test being conducted at present. The committee will also examine the reasons behind the growing trend of seats lying vacant across NITs despite several rounds of counselling.
